MY STORY

Like many reading this, we did not have much, as the world measures wealth, growing up. You know, the big house, brand name clothing, new cars or even money to go to the doctor. Yet, mom and dad made red beans, oranges and love, go a long way! We were rich! We were happy! When I step away from my life’s clutter, I then find the “inner quiet”. It’s a place where God speaks to me; a resting place. He makes me happy. This blog may be just a cabinet to file away my thoughts and visit every now and then. I don’t know. What I pray is you also can find that your happiness lies within. Not the “within” from where fleeting worldly lies take you. If you know Christ as your Savior, you have the “within”! May this blog be a reminder He truly does live within our heart…that is where happy is.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW? #1 & #7

November 8, 2012 was the first posting of lives changed through faith.  These are updates from a few of the changes that were shared.

#1 – On Purpose

As you will see from going back and reading his story, this man gave his life to Christ.  The “old” man is gone!  He is new in Christ!  He is now using the artistic talent God has given him as his ministry.  He is a wonderful pencil artist whose passion and new addiction is serving God!  Currently, he is working on getting his website up.  The domain name is PencilArt.org.  Be watching for it!

#7 – A Faith Like That!

Brittany’s faith was renewed by seeing the faith in Briley’s parents.  Read her story and I pray your faith is also renewed!  Immediately, Brittany started taking steps of faith in an outreach to help the less privileged at Thanksgiving.  By doing so, food and money donations started showing up!  Volunteers came out of the woodwork to help pick up, cook and serve!  There was even news coverage of this Thanksgiving Day event!  Best of all 221 people were fed!  Brittany told of the inspiration and gave all glory to God!  Although news seems to conveniently leave out that most important part, I know God used Brittany and all those involved.

Pictured is Brittany Ficut with one of the volunteers, Kristen Turner.

Thanksgiving food donations and workers.

That’s not the end…

Brittany goes to Sunshine Nazarene Church in Pearcy, near Hot Springs, Arkansas.  Together, with her pastor and church, this outreach will also be taking place at Christmas!  Not only food provided but also toys to underprivileged families!  If you would like to donate or volunteer,  please call (501) 282-5508.

You see, God takes us from glory to glory!  The gift goes on!  One step of faith helps someone else take theirs!

#10 - A CANDLE IN THE DARK

The Faith Assignment below was from a friend of Crystal's who attended the Dedication/Church Service for Briley FAITH.  The service was held on Sunday, November 18, 2012 at the Arkansas Children's Hospital 3rd floor Atrium.  Thank you for sharing!

Here is her story:

"Have not had a chance to tell you how special I I thought that the dedication for Briley was. She such a special and beautiful little baby- it is just too hard to imagine that she has anything wrong. I stood where I could see her eyes throughout the service & she followed everything that was going on- you could see how much she enjoyed the music- it was beautiful.

Also I wanted to share with you that I walked in with a young man that did not know you or Josh but said that you facebook posts had helped him so much through a struggle he is facing that he just had to come to Briley's service. Did not get his name but his young wife just collapsed one day with a cardiac problem & is in a coma. Just wanted you to know that your faith and testamonies are reaching more people than you can realize.  Love you and continue to carry you and your family in my heart.

Amazing story!  Briley is in a hospital for children, not adults.  This young man's wife is at another hospital.  He drew strength from what he read on the Briley updates and knew God would be center stage at this service!  So, in desperation and in need, he went out of his way to get to there.  All glory to God!

Our light shines brightest in our darkest struggles.  Then, others in need, like this young man, are drawn nearer to God. The bold faith of Josh and Crystal shone brightly and was used to speak to a stranger!  It reminds me of a song called "Go Light Your World" .  I have attached a link to this song.
"Go Light Your World" - Kathy Troccoli

Let's keep this young man and his wife in our prayers.  Maybe one day we will get to meet him and pray with him.  I feel his strength and faith has grown from his experience.  The Lord will now use his light for someone else.

If you would like to know Jesus Christ, our only answer, our only hope, please email me at kfogarty02@gmail.com and I will be glad to share the story.  It's my FAITH ASSIGNMENT.

#9 - WHEN THE LIGHTS WENT OUT!

My husband, David, shares about how to be ready for the unexpected and all you can do is say, "Wow!".  To always be ready for your FAITH ASSIGNMENT!  Thanks, husband!

Typical fall Sunday…go to church…eat lunch…watch my Cowboys win?...relax and enjoy my time with my girlfriend (aka my wife).  Nothing typical about this Sunday though.  Kathy and I had no idea what God was about to do and how He would use us.

One worship song giving praise to our Lord, then in an instant; darkness.  The lights had gone out.  The large space crowded with about 500 people was illuminated only with the emergency lights at front.  Quickly someone search news through their cell phone and discovered the power was out throughout this small Arkansas town.  Though dark, we could still pray.  The prayer service began!  The pastor asked for prayer for a family in the church that had lost a young adopted son to a tragic drowning incident only the day before.  Prayers went up.  Then another prayer request, this from my wife for Briley FAITH.  A young man responds and leads us to the throne room of God.  Then yet another request for prayer along with one of God’s faithful men leading us again to seek God’s will and favor.  Darkness still filling the room, yet strangely not feeling the darkness; a sweet spirit began to fall over the crowd.  Then it hit me…this urgency!  I was to use this opportunity to tell Briley’s story.  I found I could not stop myself from standing and raising my voice to make my request known.  “Pastor, would it be alright if I share a brief testimony this morning?”  Of course, as any faithful pastor who loves his people, Pastor Tom said, “You bet”, and he gave a brief explanation of the recent events regarding this precious granddaughter of ours.

I told how Briley had entered this world not breathing a single breath and how they quickly had to put her on a ventilator.  I told them of her struggles and how dire the doctor’s diagnosis was.  Then I told them the thing that has touched and moved me the most in all of this.  Every breath that Briley FAITH has taken, whether on a ventilator or not; every moment of life that Briley FAITH has lived, whether she lives a long life or a short life; HAS 100% BEEN USED FOR GOD’S GLORY!  I told them that Jesus lived a short life and that it was all used up for God.  Oh, how I wish that could be said of my life.  How much I long for my life to be like Briley FAITH’s!

David told the story, his FAITH ASSIGNMENT for that moment.  Briley's story reflects the story we all have to tell, and that is the story of God's grace!  A story that MUST BE TOLD.

ALERT!

I thank God that I noticed something today.  An error I made that could possibly make a difference whether someone has eternal life or death.

With every post within this blog, I list my email address if any of you want to know about Jesus Christ, the One who gives eternal life!  The email that had been listed was not correct.  Since discovering this, each post has been corrected.

Please, please try again!  Today is the day!  Now is the time!  Tomorrow is not promised!

The correct email address is kfogarty02@gmail.com.

#8 - HAPPY AGAIN!

We are never too young or too old to finally find real happiness.  Candice, thank you for sharing!

My name is Candice.  I am 20 years old.  I have been keeping up with the updates for Briley Faith and it has been encouraging for my own life.

I am currently going through a divorce.  I'm married to someone who had been addicted to crack.  He also cheated on me multiple times.  He decided he wanted to take a break and during that break he decided he no longer feels he can be with me.  I have recently discovered that this is actually an answered prayer for me.  I was not happy in the relationship and was depressed.  An answer to my prayers, Jesus is giving me another chance to find my true love and to be happy again.

Still, I was so worked up on living in the past and didn’t want to accept that my marriage was really over and that he didn’t want me.  But, then I started reading about Briley FAITH.  The faith I saw taught me to look at what God has blessed me with and focus on those things and leave the rest to Him.  He has done amazing things in my life since I let Him take over!

Do you have real happiness?  Do you know the One Candice is talking about?  The One who gives everlasting joy?  If not, you can!

If you would like to know Jesus Christ, our only answer, our only hope, please email me at kfogarty02@gmail.com and I will be glad to share the story.  It's my FAITH ASSIGNMENT.

#7 - A FAITH LIKE THAT

God used the faith of others to strengthen the faith of Brittany.  So much so, she pursued the FAITH ASSIGNMENT God was calling her to do!

I will start here with my story... You see I am a twenty eight year old mom of three and have a very busy life. I have always wanted and felt like I needed to help others especially the less fortunate but, I felt like what can I do? I am only one person with one voice... Well, about a month ago I prayed to God and said please help me be able to help others... I just don't know how. I live a nice life but I'm not wealthy with money. I asked God to show me if he wanted me to do something... The next day I picked my oldest up from school and we were headed to the bank. We saw two homeless women standing on the side of the road and this bothered my son. So we went to the ATM and got them money and then went and got them some food. We handed it to them and my nine year old said "I'll Pray for You"... I knew right then that God was calling me to do something.. I got on the phone and started calling.. People were skeptical and told me that I was taking on too much and that they just don't think I could serve over three hundred people on Thanksgiving. At this time I saw JOSH AND CRYSTAL'S FAITH they had in their daughter, BRILEY FAITH, and thought to myself "I JUST GOT TO HAVE FAITH LIKE THEY DO!". So I contacted my pastor and told him I want to feed three hundred needy people for Thanksgiving at our church. Now, with this said our church is very small and actually our church is being built and so we have our fellowship in a house . He told me Let's Do it .... I told him not to worry about any of it that I got this . I got on social media and told people what I was doing and how I needed food donations. The next day I had calls , texts, and food being donated from people that I haven't met and some that I haven't seen since high school. The next day local businesses ( salons, car lots, Walmart, our hospitals) were wanting to contribute . Then the next day In my mailbox I found a letter with no name or return address with a note that said: keep doing what your doing , this isn't much Brittany but hope it helps. It was $50 dollars cash. I called my pastor and told him how everything was falling into place and knew it was our Great God that did it! You see I put all my faith in this! I am having people donating their vehicles ( we only have one church bus) to shuttle people in and out. I got a call yesterday and a local radio station wanted to put it on the air for FREE ! The local newspaper wanted to run the article for FREE! Today I went to church and my pastor called me to the front to ask the church to help cook and serve .... My emotions took over and I started to cry. I never thought I could do this but because I prayed and had FAITH in God and now look what he is doing;-)! So this is my story and my story hasnt ended yet.... I know this Thanksgiving is going to be the best and know because what God is doing!!! It just starts with having FAITH!!!   ---Brittany Ficut

Just in...Channel 7 AND Channel 4 (Little Rock, AR) called and want to do a story on the Thanksgiving lunch!

Is God calling on you?  All you have to do is take that step of FAITH!  He equips the called!

#6 - NO GIVING UP!

The message below that was written late last night, Saturday, November 10th, is from Briley Faith’s MeMaw (great grandmother).  After 45 years of knowing this precious woman of God I have learned a lot from her about FAITH.  The miscarriage she mentions happened to me, Briley’s Granna.  Joyce, thank you for that “faith reminder”.

The Lord pressed upon her to share this and I know why.  Someone needs to here thisShe mentions several times how throughout her life God was always there.  None of us can live without Him!  Thank you for sharing with us that FAITH in what God can do will get us through times like these.  And together we can help Briley FAITH with her assignment!  There's NO GIVING UP!

·         Kat, You say it so much better than I ever could but God has been impressing this on my heart night after night when I could be sleeping. It is about midnight Sat.

Lying still after the busy days, as I begin praying for Briley, Josh, Crystal & all the others; The Lord begins to bring to mind His FAITHfulness and goodness to our family, over the last 50 odd years. ( You almost feel guilty for being so blessed, when you see others struggling).

·         Then I remember, as our son and his wife cried on the phone from Tx. one night, saying "we just lost our baby (in a miscarriage)." Who held them when we couldn't? GOD DID!!

·         Our daughter in Tx. has two sons; one has struggled for 28 years with ADHD. The other with severe allergies which almost took his life at age one, And a single taste of peanuts, today, could take him out. Yet I've seen a FAITH in God, (on her part), that puts me to shame in comparison. She never gives up on God!
·
Another daughter finally had one child at almost 40 yrs. ( who is a true blessing in our later years). The youngest daughter (through an accident), had her baby boy three months early. He came in at two lbs. and dropped down to 1lb. 14oz. and spent three months in Children's Hospital, overcoming very serious obstacles, and is now a freshman in Ark Univ.
God has NEVER GIVEN UP on us, in all the fourteen grandchildren and we will NEVER GIVE UP on GOD!
·
Briley and Jude are getting their chance to minister for our Lord as the others are doing. We never know how long it will take us to finish our assignment here; (I guess it takes some of us longer. Paw Tom and I have been trying for 50 Yrs. next Oct.). But you are all helping Briley with her assignment, and we THANK YOU for telling others what God will do for them. Her time may be short, but "If we only have hope in THIS world, we are of all men most miserable". "But God commendeth His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us, that who -so-ever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Call on Him today (realizing we are all sinners). Time is short but eternity is forever. Where will you spend yours?

·         Praying for you in love, (Great) MeMaw Turner

#5 - GOD--THE FINAL ANSWER

Because of the Briley FAITH journey someone reflects on their own trial they faced, reminding us all that God has the final answer.  Thank you, Jamie, for sharing!

Here's my FAITH story.

I became pregnant at the age of 21. I had never been told that the seizure medication I was on would lessen the effectiveness of the birth control pill I was taking. The first thing I was told by my OBGYN is to ABORT THE BABY. The first thing I was told by my neurologist was to ABORT THE BABY.  I of course said no. They continued to STRONGLY encourage me to ABORT THE BABY. For the first 3 months I was bombarded with horrifying pictures of what my baby could look like and all the defects that it was surely to have. Nevertheless, I continued to tell them NO! I just knew that God had blessed me with this pregnancy and that if I prayed earnestly He would answer that prayer. My husband and I both believed that even if there were birth defects God would give us whatever it took to raise this child we felt was surely a blessing from Him.

I had to stay on the seizure med's because if I were to have one while pregnant it would cut off oxygen to the baby & therefore cause brain damage. On the other hand the medication itself would cause other birth defects. So I prayed 24/7 LITERALLY for 9 months. My prayer was for no seizures, a healthy pregnancy, safe delivery & healthy baby. It's funny because I would always add, Lord, I don't care if it's a girl or boy, just that it's healthy and has hair. What a silly thing to pray.  I never prayed for the strength to care for a child with disabilities I figured those prayers could wait. Better just to pray for a healthy baby with no defects.

I only had one seizure during the pregnancy which happened while I was at the hospital for an ultrasound. What a blessing that we could look right then to know that the baby was OK. Only God could orchestrate that. I had a bad auto accident during the second trimester but again was taken to the hospital so we knew right then that the baby seemed to be OK.

My beautiful daughter, Jaclyn Theresa, was born with NO birth defects and hair.  God is good all the time and all the time God is good!

This is why I continue to pray daily for Briley Faith to be COMPLETELY healed no matter what the doctors have to say.

Praying for you all,
Jamie Craig

#4 - INSIDE OUT!

I love it when God changes us inwardly and we see the outwardly difference!  They tell Josh and Crystal here in this story, the faith they displayed through Briley's journey had them looking inward.  By doing so, they pray differently noticing a life changing faith difference!  Thanks for sharing!

I don't really know where to begin or even what to say.  I just wanted the two of you to know that I am truly moved by your FAITH and trust in God.  I cannot imagine what you must be going through and the strength it takes to face each day.  You are so strong and such a great example for everyone else to build their relationships with Christ.

From the moment I first began reading Briley's story a few weeks ago my relationship with Christ has changed.  At first I was confused why He would let you go through this and then I immediately began praying for Briley and for y'all and the rest of your family and I continue to pray for y'all several times a day.  Slowly I have realized that His plan for Briley is a big one and it is great.  So many people's lives are changing for the better because of her.

I have changed the way that I pray for my children and thank God for His blessings and I already notice a difference in my relationships with my girls and with God.

I want to thank you for sharing Briley's story and your journey along the way.  Your FAITH has inspired me and so quickly brought me closer to Christ.  Please know that you have so many people praying for your sweet daughter and for your entire family.

In Christ's Love

#3 - GOD "PERKS"

Wednesday, November 7, 2012.  My daughter, Kristen, like the rest of us, got the news about Briley FAITH having SMA and according to the doctors did not have long to live.  Devastated by the news she walks into the hospital room where we are with our little angel.  I can see in her face the pain, the questions, the fear.  It is very recognizable because at times, I, too, was in that moment.

Thank God, it is just for a moment!  Then, He sends us reminders of His faithfulness!  Then, He encourages us with stories of others seeing God in us!  Then, we can stand again.

God “Perk” #1 – Kristen leaves the hospital that evening looking for a peace and asking God to reveal He is still working and Briley is in His care.    Walking on a path of discouragement looking for that peace.  Approaching the car she notices a zip-lock bag underneath her windshield wiper.  On the front reads “Please enjoy this Random Act of Kindness”.  Inside there is a dollar bill.  On the outside a symbol of a “smiley face”.  She said “God knows 100% what we need!  I definitely could use a little “pick me up” in times like these!”  Kristen shared this picture of the “perk” she found and said she knows it was God’s way of telling her that He is watching over  her beautiful niece, Briley Faith.  His peace came at that very moment.  Of all the cars in the parking lot, hers was the only one to receive this random act of kindness.  That’s God.  His FAITHfulness.

God “Perk” #2 – The next morning.  A work day.  As soon as she walks in the door, her administrator asks about Briley.  Kristen gives her the update of the news she received the day before.  Tears form in the eyes of someone who does not know the family, just knows the story.  Then Kristen explains to her that God is in control.

The work day continues.  When Kristen returns from her lunch break she notices a card that had been slipped under the keyboard that rests upon her desk.  She pulls it out, gently opens the seal, lifts out a card that is just not any card.  A card with a message.  A card of FAITH.  Thank you, Cheryl, for sharing your FAITH ASSIGNMENT!  Word for word it reads:

Kristen,
Thank you for sharing your “God moment” with me earlier today.  I cannot imagine the emotions your precious niece’s diagnosis has placed on your heart.  I want to share something with you.  You probably do not know that I’m a breast cancer survivor.  The verse that became LIFE to my husband, son and I in January 2008 was this:  “For we know God works all things for good to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.”  Romans 8:28.  The night following my biopsy, we knew the following day would be “answer day”.  This verse was Jared’s homework verse.  We found ourselves explaining to our son the meaning when he had no idea what we were waiting on!  This verse was a lifeline for me.  Because I was reminded time and time again that only God sees the “Big Picture”.  Faith and trust that good results somewhere down the line is a BIG comfort. May you find comfort in this verse as I have so many times.  Love, Cheryl

Cheryl and Kristen continued to discuss what God has used to build their faith.  Cheryl told Kristen that watching her throughout this journey with Briley has been encouraging.  You see, God used this “perk” to not only once again to remind Cheryl of the faithfulness of God through Kristen, but He also used this “perk” as a reminder to Kristen that God is using her, when she didn’t even realize it.  Her FAITH ASSIGNMENT.

Our walk says a lot about our life.  Are you walking BY FAITH?  If so, no matter what you are going through, watch for God to send those reminders, those God “Perks” to take you through your “answer day”.  Whatever awaits, have FAITH.  God has already been there.

#2 - THERE IS A GOD

THIS IS AN AMAZING STORY!  FROM THERE IS NO GOD TO I KNOW GOD!
The contributor requested to remain anonymous due to certain facts revealed here not everyone knows.  Nothing has been added or changed in this story.

FAITH ASSIGNMENT #2
When I was young, my mom made sure to always have me in church. We were there no matter what. I liked church well enough because I got to hear of fun stories such as how Jonah was swallowed by the "big fish." Pretty interesting stuff for a little girl. As I grew older and started junior high school, my mom became sick. The doctors could not figure out what was wrong with her. She was having severe abdominal pain that would cripple her. I prayed every night that God would heal her. After 2 years of unanswered prayers, my faith began to crumble. (The doctors have finally found out what is causing her pain but this is something she will have to live with for the rest of her life.)
Ever since that time, I have lived probably best described as an agnostic. I never truly decided if I believed there was a God or not. It really did not matter much to me. I stopped going to church the minute I moved out of my parents house. I went through my college years and early adult years having no relationship with God at all. That is until the birth of my beautiful daughter. It was then that I truly realized there is someone BIGGER and more powerful that is ruling our world. I noticed that I was "trying" to have a deeper relationship with God but did not know really how or what I was doing. I would pray here and there but did not truly try to give my heart to him.
Crystal and Josh's testimony about Briley and their faith in God really struck something in me. From the moment I learned what was going on, all I could do was think about my daughter and cry. I cannot imagine what they are going through and my heart is broken for them. As the days go by and I read more of Crystal's posts, I see that she is not crying but is praising God instead. Something I have never done during a time of worry or stress. Everyday I wake up early to see what has been written about Ms Briley either from an update from Crystal or from one of Granna's blogs and I can tell, something is changing inside me. I begin praying more frequently and differently. I'm asking for less and saying "thank you" more. I can feel my FAITH being renewed.

This past monday morning as I am driving to work, I turn down my radio and begin talking to God. I thank him for all the many blessings in my life and tell him that I am ready for him to start working through me. I want to be a vessel for his word. I will live my life for him and this time, I will NOT lose faith. Well, when I got home from work on that day, my sister (my best friend) called me and informed me that she had just been at the doctor and was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. It is a cancer of the smooth muscle and it is resistant to chemo and radiation. After I got off the phone, I immediately collapsed to the floor crying. I was inconsolable. That's when I remembered my morning conversation. I stopped crying and began praying. I told God I was ready to be faithful, and now he is giving me that chance to keep my promise. I'm still a little worried for my sister as she has not even seen an oncologist yet to find out a prognosis or treatment options, but mostly I am at peace, knowing how great our Lord is.

I know it is because of sweet baby Briley and her amazing family that I am at peace during the scariest time of my life. It is because of her story that I believe that God will take care of my sister. I am so very thankful for Crystal and Josh for being so extremely brave during this time and selfless to share their story with so many people. They have truly changed my life.

#1 - ON PURPOSE

Yesterday we received devastating news that my precious, bright-eyed, beautiful granddaughter, Briley FAITH was diagnosed with a severe case of SMA.  This has been a journey of "whys".  Why, Lord?  For what purpose?  His glory has already shown in many ways.  Here is one.

This is a story about someone who is very dear to my heart. I have been friends with him on Facebook but he never comments or posts anything.  I had no idea he was reading all the updates and prayers for Briley.

I have been praying for him most of my adult life.  From the age of 12, his life was one of chaos, confusion, addiction and prison.  His life had no firm foundation.  Crumbling day to day.  In and out of prison.  Rehab after rehab.  Decieved by man.  Denying God and not even realizing he was.  Caught up in the tangled web of deception.  He is doing really good now.  Hasn't touched alcohol for at least 6 months. Praise God! I don't hear from him often, but, since he was first in a "boys home" I began writing him; I was 13.  Throughout the years we have had many conversations, but, not as wonderful as this.

THE CALL:  Approximately 2 hours or so after we had received the news that Briley FAITH was diagnosed with a severe case of SMA, my cell phone rings.  I was not able to answer right then and decided to return the call later.  Later in the day, I call.

He said, "I have a situation I need to talk to you about."  I love the way he just lays it out there.  He always has.  He said, "People might think I'm crazy, but, this really happened."  I was sitting at home and all of a sudden I felt like my mind was going, my body was gone...I closed my eyes and I was in hell!  I was so scared!  I just knew I was going to die!"  AND THEN...I started praying all the prayers that were out there for your granddaughter, Briley.  BUT, I replaced her name with mine.  I was praying those prayers for me!  Then I asked God to forgive me!  Forgive me for all the wrong I had done!"  At that moment, he had died to self so God could live within as His Savior! He said, "I opened my eyes and I'm still here."  I told him he is here ON PURPOSE!  Just like Briley FAITH!  God formed her for the purpose of bringing him to saving knowledge of Jesus Christ!  He said, "Does everyone have this type of experience?"  I said, "No.  It just took that dramatic, terrifying moment to get your attention!"   I informed him he now has a job to do.  A FAITH ASSIGNMENT!  Tell the story!  He said, "Let's do it!"

You see, like a lot of us, he thought he was saved at an early age.  But, his actions were not of a child of God.  If you don't know Christ as your Savior, the time is now.  Don't wait until opening your eyes in hell is actually a reality.

If you would like to know this Savior, our only answer, our only hope, please email me at kfogarty02@gmail.com and I will be glad to share the story.  It's my FAITH ASSIGNMENT.

John 3:16

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
